Projects

Riparian

On September 28, 2010, the Pennington County Board of Commissioners approved six riparian projects totaling $46,658. These projects will demonstrate best management practices (BMPs) such as tree, shrub, and grass stream buffers, animal waste management, off-stream livestock water systems, and grazing management to prevent fecal bacteria runoff into Spring Creek and its tributaries.

On-site Wastewater Treatment Systems

On September 28, 2010, the Pennington County Board of Commissioners approved seven septic system improvement projects totaling $48,200. These projects will reduce fecal bacteria contamination in Spring Creek and its tributaries from septic systems that are located near streams. The approved projects will replace and upgrade existing malfunctioning or failing septic systems with new on-site wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) that demonstrate best management practices (BMPs), current local and state requirements, and advanced wastewater treatment technologies.
